The Grounds

Miles of beautiful countryside with plenty of walkways and cycle tracks surround the Mill. When we bought it back in December 2005 it was very much overgrown and we have removed a lot if vegetation during the restoration process, but we have started landscaping the area and it should look beautiful
and full of wildlife once more when we have finished and are ready to open.

Canal and River

Situated at the front of the buildings is an old brick bridge, which is the only way into the site. Under the bridge is a section of disused canal that used to connect the river Thames with the river Severn. The canal preservation society has just won a massive lottery grant to reopen the canal from our mill to the river Severn. Work has already started and the exciting news is that the Brimscombe port basin next door is to be dug out starting in March 2007. This will make room for many more miles of cycle track for us to enjoy and massively improve the amenity of the area.

There area many old stone walls surrounding the Mill and we have plans to restore them all. They were in a particularly bad condition with some fallen down and many with trees growing in and through them.

Surounding Buildings

The grounds hold many other buildings, some are going to be used by us over time and make excellent storerooms, others are being rented to local companies. The unusual layout of them adds a lot of character and makes the area fun to explore.

Hire Shop

We plan to hire bikes from one of the small surrounding buildings so people can come and enjoy the surrounding area at a leisurely pace or try their skills on the trials course that will be situated close
to the shop. There will be changing facilities and showers available within the complex. The building was in poor state and we are completely replacing the roof and one of the outside walls at the moment ready for a full new interior.

The Railway Track

There is an old railway track running over the middle of the site giving a very unusual but pleasant feel to the area. The old brick archways look beautiful and have a river running through one of them. The track is still in use but does not cause a disturbance, as the trains are hardly noticeable when they pass, however there are the occasional vintage steam trains that run past.
