We’ve just received the first shipment of the new Shimano SLX components and our verdict is that they look great!

Shimano says this groupset is a replacement of the old Hone and Deore LX groupsets, LX is now aimed at the hybrid/touring market.

Well that’s true but they’ve also managed to produce a good looking groupset that includes many of the features of current Deore XT range. Whilst also catering for the All-mountain crowd with the introduction of a double chainring and bash guard along with a special front mech for it.

SLX Brakes

The trickle down effect is in full force with Shimano SLX, the brake levers feature both the tool-less reach adjust and Servo Wave of Deore XT. This along with the usual great lever feel, your bike will appreciate this upgrade.

SLX Chainset

Featuring the now standard Hollowtech II and external Bottom bracket with more agressive styling than Deore XT this is a chainset that will both function perfectly and look good on any bike. Some here have said that it looks better than the current Deore XT cranks and frankly I can’t argue with that.
